| This book answers the most popular question for elementary students: "What do you want to do when you grow up? I originally wrote this book to inspire my 10 year old mentee and his classmates to be better and then I realized kids all over need the same type of encouragement and the same type of exposure to many career options that they probably would not learn otherwise. I asked my mentee what he wanted to be when grows up and he told me a very typical response which was a basketball player. I then said what if that does not work, he then said he would sell shoes in the mall. I then said, have you ever thought about being a lawyer or a doctor or an engineer and then he said no. I explained what a lawyer was and in minutes he said he wants to be lawyer. Whether he decides he wants to be a lawyer or not, I just exposed him to something else and that is why I wrote Kids, Be Great. I want to expose kids all over the globe. There are several stories in this book before the display of careers that address the following list of traits: the power of reading, self discipline, hard work, failure, name calling, fighting, good note taking, double checking school work, boredom, positive competition, goal setting, the value of doing your best, responsibility, rushing to get finished, doing extra work ahead of time and more. After your kids read this book, ask them to discuss the book with you to see what lessons they learned. Check their comprehension. B. Rice |
